Hey everyone! Welcome to our very first GloFX Ambassador Spotlight! We’re so excited to introduce you all to this incredible flow artist, Kidron. This month, we are featuring Kidron Dedeaux. Here is a brief interview so that we can all get to know him, and the story behind Kidron.

What is your name and where are you from?

My name is Kidron aka Kid for short. It’s hard to say where I’m from because I moved around a lot within California (live in Detroit for a little bit when I was 9), but I lived in Pasadena for the longest and it feels more like home to me, so I would say I am from there.

How long have you been flowing & how did you get started?

I’ve been flowing (with my light whip and hoop) for a little over two years now. I first started thinking about flow arts around 2018 after I went to a little rave in Fresno with one of my sisters. I remember seeing this girl wielding a light whip and immediately fell in love with it.

When I finally got my whip and started posting, I received so much love from the community! It felt good when people appreciated my art which I thought would be the total opposite. I went into a frenzy the first few months of flowing and ended up getting another light whip, a hoop, 2 Levi wands, and poi. I overwhelmed myself getting all those props that I ended up falling out of flow with most of them, but I stuck to whipping predominantly and hooping occasionally.

Tell us your favorite type of flow art and why?

Hands down the Light Whip is my favorite flow art. The whip itself is basically 3 props in one (poi, rope dart, and the whip) which I found to be very creative and versatile. Transitioning out for different moves like wielding to trancing to a rope dart to etc is the most exhilarating feeling. I can express so much emotion with whipping too and it just fits my explosive energy altogether.

What’s your favorite environment to flow in?

I honestly have to say my room. Don’t get me wrong, I love me a good crowd cheering me on with “ooooo’s” and “aaaahhhh’s” dab smack in the middle of a club or event. But just something about being alone and flowing out hits different. I’m an extroverted introvert, so I enjoy extroverted things, but I LOVE my alone time and enjoy that even more. When I’m in my room, I’m in control of the environment. I don’t have to worry about being anxious about hitting certain moves right, be aware of people around me and make sure not to hit them if want I’m wearing is flowable, and the list goes on. With just me, myself, and I, I feel like I am able to fall into my own world of flow and escape reality for a little while.

What is your favorite song or genre to listen to while flowing?

I just love music in general. Anything that sounds good to me, I want to flow to it. But, I would have to say the EDM is my main go-to. There is so much variety in EDM and I honestly like how EDM music feels in my body, especially when I flow. And I’m a raver, so EDM is in my blood.

Who or what inspires you in your flow art journey?

My big sister Chastity was my biggest motivation to start flowing. I look up to my big sis a lot and just seeing her do her thing with her hoop journey while I was thinking about starting my flow journey just felt like the right time to take up the art. I’m so glad I did and I thank her big time for that.

Do you have advice for someone who is just starting out?

Just flow. I know that there are a lot of talented souls in this flow community of ours doing some outstanding, crazy stuff with all sorts of props. That can be intimidating, but don’t focus on that. Focus on your flow. It’s in you and unique to just you. Just like how I flowed with an imaginary whip, you gotta just feel it and know that your flow is you and just have a blast. If it feels good and right, keep on doing it because of that.
